Items that everybody purchases don’t provide a lot of information in a statistical sense, the customer is surely already aware of them and if they wanted them now they would have purchased them already. After all everybody wants a pony, you don’t need to be a drop shipping genius to work that out. A trickier question is what do people who by this specific product want? This is a question AI and machine learning can help with.
Where this technology can work well is in discovering items that work together. Looking transaction history over a few months, or even just a few weeks with enough sales, these items can be separated from items that are purchased together by coincidence.
When we train our AI on your data we’ve included the two most likely items to be purchased with the trigger item, but we encourage adding others that you believe the customer would be interested in. They probably already have a pony, they might even have just bought the pony from your store. This process creates extra information making a virtuous cycle, a positive feedback loop, that allows us to make further recommendations about impactful upsells. These are deployed ready to be turned on after review by the store owner. Currently the discount is set to 0%, we recommend adjusting this to as close to 30% as reasonable for your store. You can expect to see them in the Sweet Upsell dashboard over the next 2 weeks.
The Sweet AI Upsells are yours, we won’t be editing them directly but might suggest new ones from time to time as market activity changes.
The Sweet AI upsells are built using our models on the backend and implemented as regular upsells. We recommend configuring them as you would any other upsell - 30% discount is where conversions peak for instance.
To compare performance you can create any number of upsells with the same trigger products. The actual upsell displayed will be selected randomly. Over time you’ll be able to see which upsell is performing the best and remove it from circulation.
